I’ve read this news while I’m blog hopping, I can’t seem to believe it.  Is it really true? According to the author (tampi.tblog.com), there was a paper by a Moroccan scholar that states that a woman girl can marry at the age of 9.  Sheik Mohamad mentioned earlier this month that the marriage of a nine years old was allowed by Islams as the Prophet Mohamed consummated the marriage to one of his wives at that age.   This is seem to be ridiculous, what at 9 nine year-old girl knows about relationship, sex, family and responsibility?  What am I thinking is that they are just justifying their pedophile acts with religious stuffs.

I got curious because of this, so I tried to research something about this.  I dig some articles and I found out that it is really happening in some Islamic tribes where girls as young as 9 years old are forced to marry older men through arranged marriage.  There was a report in the Pakistan news that a 17-year old girl was killed in so-called “honour killing” because she annulled her husband whom she was forced to marry at the age of nine.

In Wikipedia, I found that in Ethopia  children in rural areas are married young. It is not uncommon to see girls as young as 6 years of age being married. It is also unusual for a girl to be 16 and yet unmarried.  I was astounded.  What do they know about marriage life?

Well, what can the Captivating Capiz Zinnia and The Seer say about this.  At the ripe age of 20+ is still unattached.

Note: MOROCCO TOP BODY OF ISLAMIC SCHOLARS HAS CONDEMNED A MUSLIM THEOLOGIAN FOR ISSUING A RELIGIOUS DECREE THAT GIRLS AS YOUNG AS NINE YEARS CAN MARRY.

I can’t think of any place where I could be comfortable and be what I am other than my hometown “The CAPTIVATING CAPIZ“. I was born, raised, nurtured and cultured in this beautiful, enchanting piece of land in the vastness of Panay Island. It surrounded by beautiful shorelines and mountains which serves as a fortress to my young soul. The Captivating Capiz is the portal of my beginning, the sanctuary of my being and my soul. I wonder, if I cannot be here where could be? Is there someplace that can me feel like home just like the way I felf in my hometown? I cannot think of any other place where I could be myself, and feel the comfort of my mother’s arms.

Capiz is known for three things, first it is known as the “Seafoods Capital of the Philippines” because of the abundance of the seafoods and very rich harvest of sea products. In Capiz you can find any kind of seafoods, anything edible and exotic seafood that you can think of. Secondly, it is also known for the “Capiz Shell”. Capiz shell is the famous product of Capiz, next to the seafood itself. This gorgeous handmade home decors and accessories are well-known not only in Philippines but all throughout the world because of its uniqueness and rarity. Lastly, Capiz is known for its “Aswang” label. This quite not good image for a beautiful and captivating place like Capiz. As a Capizeña I’m not proud of this label, but is seems like that it is what makes us distinctive from any other province in the Philippines. Personally, I want to erase this “bad” image for Capiz, for there are lot of beautiful things in Capiz that should be proud of rather than being called aswang. We have beautiful landscapes, enchanting caves and captivating beaches but most of all in Capiz you could meet bewitching women.

Be captivated. Visit Captivating Capiz!
